“NextGen was pleased to see several bills in our legislative package pass through their respective Appropriations Committees last week. These bills span a range of policy issue areas but in some specific way each is centered on supporting and uplifting California’s most vulnerable families and communities,” said Arnold Sowell Jr., Executive Director for NextGen California. “Given the challenges of the state budget, the NextGen team is very encouraged that the State Legislature continues to signal their commitment to push for progressive change, including our bills to create a more inclusive democracy, combat climate change, and end food insecurity. The NextGen team is ready to work in the coming weeks with the Legislature to ensure these key pieces of legislation make their way to the Governor’s desk.”
