What They're Saying About NextGen

In 2016, NextGen was founded with the mission to advance progressive change in California through an equity and justice lens. NGP combines the functions of policy development, legislative advocacy, grassroots power building, and strategic communications under one roof to achieve its mission. The NGP team consistently works to develop strong, diverse coalitions; uplift the voices of frontline communities; and build long-lasting, durable partnerships throughout California and across all our issue areas. Here is what several of our partners have to say about our work:

We have been proud to partner with NextGen California to uplift the voices of immigrants and their families. Together we have worked to civically engage our communities and uplift vision and solutions. NextGen California has stood with us for for just and humane immigration reform and had our back against anti-immigrant policies.

NextGen Policy has been an incredible partner and has fought with DRC to lift up the voices of the most marginalized people, especially disabled people of color. It has been truly an honor to work with an organization with as much courage and character as NextGen Policy, especially on AB 2632 (Holden), a bill that hoped to define and limit the use of solitary confinement.

NextGen California is a leader on issues related to equity and immigrant rights in California. By combining a passion for justice with experienced advocacy they have partnered with immigrant communities to find comprehensive and lasting solutions. Whether challenging private detention operators, or ensuring legal access, NextGen California is dedicated to standing with immigrants and building a California that is fair and inclusive for all.

We came into our partnership with NextGen as complete policy novices with nothing more than a good idea and lived experience with the policy need. The NextGen team brought legislative expertise, deep insight, and credibility to our collaboration. Without their support and leadership, our good idea would never have become Senate Bill 907, let alone a chaptered law for the State of California.

NextGen brings leading edge ideas to drive an inclusive and sustainable future for all. They've set new precedence for the country - and do so while simultaneously amplifying others in the space. Their team leads with heart and integrity. It is truly always a joy to work with their leaders.

Partnering with NextGen Policy allowed us to make significant headway in converting an underutilized electrical corridor into a valuable community asset. The space will serve systems-impacted individuals while sequestering carbon and providing critical habitat to grassland endemic wildlife species.

Over the past several years, NGP has been a strong partner of Young Invincibles in moving forward our mission to amplify the voices of young adults across the state and the nation. We are excited to continue our joint endeavor to make higher education and health care more accessible to young people in California.

Swords to Plowshares knew it was time to fight harder to address the urgent needs of our most vulnerable senior veterans, so we reached out to NextGen Policy for their expertise and support. Together, we successfully advocated for a $25M statewide pilot program - the first of its kind - to improve housing stability and quality of life for formerly homeless aging veterans in California. This major win for veterans would not have been possible without NGP's dedication.

We counted on NextGen's support in our work to establish the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund. We built a relationship of trust, mutual learning and collaboration through that campaign that has carried through to today and will carry on for years to come.
